But every so often, prominent public figures come to Georgetown, and undergraduates glean the rare opportunity to ask questions in return. Last Wednesday, those who attended Associate Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s lecture received an index card where they could write one question for Sotomayor to answer during the standard post-lecture question-and-answer session — a Gaston Hall standard that usually fosters a candid discussion and enriches university programming. In Wednesday’s case, however, the questions were screened and posed by a university official, rather than the student or event attendee who originally wanted an answer. (WUSA9)Police are searching for a 66-year-old Germantown woman who has Alzheimer’s. Nancy Eillen Strohmeyer, 66, of Germantown was last in touch with her family via phone Wednesday around 7 p.m., Montgomery County police said. She is described as a white woman, standing 5’7" tall and weighing around 130 pounds. Strohmeyer has shoulder-length blond hair and may be wearing a tan coat over a turquoise sweatshirt. Police said she does not have her medicine and her family is worried about her welfare. There is an active search underway, according to police. AT 2 p.m. Monday, officers will conduct a search of the wooded area near her residence. They said there is no foul play suspected in this missing person case. (WUSA9)The search is on for an allegedly drunk driver led police officers on a chase from Maryland to Virginia, Montgomery County police said. A police dispatcher said the chase began in Germantown at around 9:01 p.m. The chase went down I-270 to I-495, eventually crossing into Virginia via the American Legion Bridge, the dispatcher said. Because the driver crossed into Virginia, Montgomery County police ended their pursuit there. The car was last seen traveling southbound on the George Washington Parkway. (WUSA9)A cell phone application played a key role in finding two people Montgomery County police say stole more than $20,000 in electronics after they broke into a car on Christmas. Casey Mulloy and Kyle Pestun, both of an unconfirmed address, were charged with theft after police say they broke into a car belonging to a man who requested only to be identified as Eric. At around noon on Christmas, Eric told police that his car was broken into while it was parked in the unit block of Diamond Hill Court in Germantown. Several items were reported missing, including two infrared cameras, two laptops, an iPod Nano, circuit boards and a 70-200mm camera lens. "I just felt hopeless, I just sat outside in the rain. I was just contemplating life. I mean what do I do at this point?" Eric said.
